equipped2succeed Trainers Presentation Event
- a time for celebration
Nottingham City Council’s Loxley House provided the backdrop to the presentation of equipped2succeed Licenced Trainer certificates to twelve individuals from across the charity and public sectors on Friday 19th July.
As Licenced Trainers the associates are now able to deliver equipped2succeed programmes that develop the capabilities in this unique framework; with access to comprehensive resources and ongoing support from our team to deliver transformational courses within their organisations.
The certificates were presented by Councillor Neghat Khan, portfolio holder for Early Years, Education and Employment for Nottingham, who has previously visited the celebration events for several equipped2succeed programmes across the city, notably for teenage girls and Syrian refugees.
‘I’ve seen people’s confidence really grow as a result of equipped2succeed. It’s great to see a diverse group of people trained to deliver to go out there and cascade this programme to many more people,’ said Cllr Khan.
Richard Donovan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility UK and Ireland at Experian, presented a number of special awards for those who had shown particular merit during the training. Richard has been providing mentoring support to Beverley Burton, founder and author of equipped2succeed.
He explained: ‘Experian has a strong sense of civic responsibility and we’re always keen to back initiatives that deliver innovative ways to upskill the local community. I personally endorse equipped2succeed because it reflects my belief that it is better to give people the tools to seek out opportunities for themselves, than to try and fix their problems for them.’
Beverley Burton thanked Paul Crookendale, Community Project and Partnership Manager and Danny Goodwin, Employment and Skills Officer for believing in equipped2succeed and hosting the event. She also commended organisations that had invested in training: ‘You have shown a big commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the people you work with and support. I’m looking forward to continuing our collaboration.’
‘We all have a right to learn, to achieve, to thrive, to contribute in meaningful ways, and to create our own future – not the future someone else has determined for us. Sometimes we all need help with this. equipped2succeed delivers training so that individuals can develop the mindset and behaviours to achieve and thrive.’
Amongst the individuals receiving awards, Anna Lydon, Co-ordinator / Assessor at SV2, a charity that supports people affected by sexual violence, said: ‘equipped2succeed is unlike any other training programme; it is about empowering people and giving them back what they’ve lost through what they’ve experienced. It’s about changing the negative messages. It’s made a huge difference to me and I can’t wait to see it help the people we support.’
Danyul Reid from Nottingham City Council’s Youth Offending Team Hub said: ‘We all need to be given the opportunity to present our best side – that’s what equipped2succeed does. It’s given me a chance for self-reflection; to look back on my own journey and better understand myself and the issues that have arisen. I am now seeing the impact with young people in the YOUCAN programme.’
