SCLA has a number of part-time opportunities for people to develop and contribute in their communities:

  • Women (over 18) to be involved in our equipped4wellbeing Women’s Project

  • Young People (aged 18 to 24) to be involved in our equipped4wellbeing Young People’s Project

These projects will support women and young people of Nottingham, adversely affected by Covid-19, to improve and maintain their wellbeing. The Learning Champion roles offer great development opportunities with our committed team.

We are seeking Learning Champions who reflect the diverse communities of our city.

This is a fixed term appointment for 6 hours per week for 16 weeks (not consecutive weeks. Weeks, days and time to be agreed with each Learning Champion in advance).

Pay: £8.72 per hour

Role: To support participants to complete the equipped4wellbeing Programme during live online sessions, on the equipped2succeed Learning Platform and in the relevant WhatsApp Group.

Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Programme Manager to engage participants.

  • To work with the Programme Manager and participants to implement the programme.

  • Enable and support participants to develop their capabilities and skills through the equipped4wellbeing Programme. 

  • Enable participants to make the most of the equipped2succeed live online training sessions and equipped2succeed online learning platform by supporting them to complete learning activities.

  • Uphold and positively promote Second Chance Learning Academy’s Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination Policy

  • Uphold Second Chance Learning Academy’s relevant Policies and Procedures

  • Support participants to evaluate training.

  • Maintain records of work undertaken.

Actively promote:

  • the equipped2succeed framework of capabilities with participants throughout all elements of the programme;

  • positive mindset, self-esteem and confidence with participants throughout all elements of the programme.

Base: Working from home with occasional sessions in the community - agreed in advance

Equipment Provided: Laptop with relevant software 

Responsible to: Beverley Burton or Harriet Franklin Programme Manager

Special Requirements: Learning Champions may be required to contribute to occasional evening sessions.

Other Responsibilities

In accordance with relevant legislation and codes of practice, and with codes of practice and procedures, to take reasonable care for your health and safety, and that of other persons who may be affected by the performance of your duties, and where appropriate to safeguard the health and safety of all persons and premises under you control and guidance.

Exercise proper care in handling, operating and safeguarding any equipment, vehicle or appliance provided, used or issued in the performance of your duties.

Adopt and maintain a responsible attitude towards all security matters, including GDPR compliance, as stipulated by relevant training and guidance.

Effectively manage resources: equipment/material, information and time.
